About this event

Join us for a six-week book club in which we will read essays from "Torn Asunder: Children, the Myth of the Good Divorce, and the Recovery of Origins," edited by Margaret McCarthy. Registration is free; the only cost is the cost of the book itself.

The book is on backorder through the publisher. A digital copy is available for $7.49 here: https://ebooks.faithlife.com/product/171112/torn-asunder-children-the-myth-of-the-good-divorce-and-the-recovery-of-origins .

Through our six week series, we will read six different essays, as outlined below.

- April 26 - Introduction and “The Homelessness of Divorce” - Lisa Lickona

- May 3 - “The Tragedy of Divorce for Children” - Paul Sullins

- May 10 - “Biological Effects of Divorce on Children” - Vicki Thorn

- May 17 - “Children of Divorce: Conflicts and Healing” - Rick Fitzgibbons

- May 24 - “Does the Shape of Families Shape Faith?” - Elizabeth Marquardt et al.

- May 31 - “Hedging One’s Bets: Courting Divorce” - Margaret McCarthy

Each meeting is on a Wednesday evening from 7:45-8:45 pm EDT. Meetings will consist of an opening prayer and remarks (7:45-8:00) and small group time (8:00-8:45) with leaders.

The reading assignments are between 10-20 pages each week.
